I use a pencil but a sharpie is fine to use.Can you use a sharpie on the eggs, or is the ink toxic to the chicks?
I had one duck egg like that. I left it in through lockdown and it hatched second to last of four that made it that far. How was there even room in that little space for a duckling to BE? Theyāre about 6-7 weeks old now, all healthy. Is this a dead egg? It has a very clear line through it, one side dark the other side clear. No movement.
I lost track of my hatch. It is day twelve!
I think they will be forgiving and I will still get some chickies.new kayaks?...do tell!!! (with pics)I lost track of my hatch. It is day twelve!
I have been kind of neglecting this batch, finals and new kayaks distracted meI think they will be forgiving and I will still get some chickies.
The feed in the feeder is dry. What I did not account for was the feed in the bedding that got wet from earlier this week. Bedding removed. I was checking, but not enough. So, moldy feed is possible. Down 4 and another starting to worry. Still learning, thanks to all for the help.At that age it could be quail bronchitis. Throwing their head back (raleing) is indicative of a respiratory disease.

i already gave hubby 1 to play!! and little quailies said āiām a jumboā hahahaha every time I think Iāve ālearntā it all, they find a way to prove me wrong!!! with my āhomegrownsā i see higher fertility but some smaller size and sometimes more āchallengingā.....(ie my scissorbeak, albino, and a couple āruntsā) havenāt really noted any particular delays in timeframe of hatching vs shipped eggs. The feed in the feeder is dry. Planning on another meat run for the rat cage grow outs. Setting 8 July for 25 July hatch. B#3 butcher day also to clear up cages. The white/pied are neat.
Looking through the notes, the Kiki eggs were more challenging than the store bought. Could be genetics? All the store bought popped pretty close like everyone reported. The homegrown spread out and were the last to pop with the store bought. Random thoughts.
