I was doing calculations on my quail weights and did a google search for g to oz conversion......I got my answer immediately but was totally surprised to see that most people looking up that conversion are doing so in regard to measuring “weed” and not quail!!

My six week jumbos have started laying.

My current flock typically lays 11ish gram eggs and one of the newbies already laid a 13 gram one. Will be interesting to see how or if size changes as they mature.

I bought some but ran out and have been stealing the kids’ sandbox sand.

The quail seem to like at least some dirt in it though so it is a little “fluffier”. I was trying to decide if I was being too yuppie by buying dirt.

The problem with yard dirt is that the yard is so unwilling to let go of it. A big plastic bag full of nice clean dirt ripped from the bosom of the earth, de-lumped and sieved by someone in possession of machinery is so worth the money.

I have huge size differences in my Jumbo's. They hatched over a three-day period though, so I figure that accounts for some of it.
