➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

You made me go sit and watch my newest babies.

I just noticed one that's on the runty side. I did not notice the size difference the other day.

The dummy was outside of a dirt box... The feed is inside of the dirt box.
I'm thinking the dirt box wall was too high for this one dummy to jump into.

I just fixed that issue but when I moved it close to the food... It ate non stop.

Poor thing.
I bet if I hadn't just noticed this then it would have died soon.

I ripped some spots in the box sides and made sure it could hop in.

Poor little guy! Hopefully it’ll perk right up with some food in it

Did you checks its butt to make sure it can poop?
yes...it’s actually one of the biggest, healthiest chicks of the bunch! food, clean water....not too warm but warm enough....heat lamp at very edge of brooder to prevent overheating but allow runts to enjoy warmth as needed.....i’m probably going to put new puppy pads in shed brooder and move jumbos from friday with a few bigger chicks from Sunday out!! was just a bit reluctant due to extreme heat advisory next few days......

I hope so.
I'd hate to have accidentally starved one to death.
:th
will hopefully be fine.....it’s difficult when systems malfunction! I had same problem with my male bunny! he seemed to not be eating/drinking as much as I thought he should. what I didn’t see was that new bottle I gave him was “sticking” and he got to the point of not even trying! hubby finally pulled him out and held him in one hand with the bottle in the other for a couple days until we got him rehydrated and now I check everyday to make sure it’s working and he’s drinking.

So, is it possible these two will actually have different feather colorations? Or have I just been staring at my quailies too long?

They’re so freaking cute when they’re this tiny though!
I know.
I noticed those same stripe differences at that age.
I can't tell who is who know but I do seem to be getting a lot with white on them.
