I think my obsession with changing the water is because it stays so hot here that I like to give them fresh cool water.

maybe if it wasn't so hot here all the time then the water wouldn't get hot and I wouldn't change it as often.

But the quail do make their water dirty pretty quick and I don't like to look at dirty water.

I use the ones with the peck thing for the quail, they learn pretty quick. I have 3 cups attached to a PVC arm leading to a 2 liter bottle. 4-6 quail use it, water lasts almost a week before needing refill/top off.

I just got ones without the peck thing for the turkeys and chickens, I love them except the stupid turkeys keep breaking them somehow, probably jumping on them. Otherwise they are wonderful, we put 2-3 cups on a 5 gallon bucket. For about 9 bantams, the bucket lasts almost a week, for 21 turkeys I top off every day but could maybe stretch to 2 days. With just quail would last a long time.

The ones with the peck thing usually have removable cup so you can clean. The no peck you can just blast a bunch of water when filling container to rinse out the cup.
