our squirrel season opens August 15th.....DH considers that one of the major holidays of the yearI had a part terrier, part beagle that was the best squirrel dog. If there was any lean at all to the tree, she would go right up the tree after them. I did have a .22 with me and I did have a shot but I don't think squirrel season is open here but I also don't know.
My beagle mix was not good for duck hunting. It was a major chore to get out of the house without her if she saw me pick up the shotgun.I don’t usually take them this early nor to this particular property and believe me, they get very upset when they realize we are going without them!
i got the bright idea to use/train my feists for “deer recovery” a couple years ago.....even had harnesses made with names on them! they can only track and recover a deer that actually goes down.....and unfortunately that’s only been our deer so farMy beagle mix was not good for duck hunting. i started baking fruit cobblers for dessert recently from a recipe that I found over 20 years ago!! it’s really fairly simple.....1c flour, 1c sugar, 1c milk, 1 stick butter, 1 can fruit or pie filling. last week I did peach....tonight I did strawberry!!! the peach was good, but I think the strawberry was better! not sure, but possibly because my son made “clarified butter” and gave me the “brown butter” to add to the cobbler........
that sounds amazing!!! i can’t wait until next spring for garden planting!! like all things, first time (this year) was good practice run!!!
since it’s friday night, DH went “old school” and made fried chicken wings, shrimp, and fries
