I think ive got 22 hatchers and im gonna have to call it. Not turning off the incubator but not holding out much hope. This is gonna really mess up my stats

Question for you button quail gurus: once you split pairs up, can you ever swap the males around, or will they fight with the females? What about trios? I heard something about the females fighting pretty badly.

i’m definitely no expert but my guess is that #2,4,5,6,7 all male....1,3 female.....oops just saw red feathers on #3 tail.....could be male??
i need to get pics of mine but right now I’m leaning towards 3 male 1 female

well i’m a little late getting them started but RK finally had turkeys....I only came home with 2 this year!! both bb bronze. one is a definite tom as he’s already posturing and trying to “strut” at 1-2 weeks!!

1, 4, 7 look like girls to me, 5 +6 look male. 2+3 unknown, do they have red/pink color at vent area? Non-expert opinion.

If you search for button quail color chart, there's a couple of websites that have good pictures. A lot of the color mutations have gender specific colors or patterns, so you can tell gender once adult coloring comes in.

just sent 2 doz chicks to shed brooder....now have 1 or more loudmouth inside looking for others!!

I just sent 8 to the freezer.
