I'm at 35%. I'm not sure if I am going to raise it some or not.
I am so surprised.

I candled my lav man set last night and had to pull 13(!) Clears and 2 early quitters. Im mad at my lav man roo i think he has a pair of fav girls as the eggs that are developing obviously came from the same two hens. After the kids upended the incubator i didnt have high hopes but :he also pulled 2 mid quitting buttons :barnie only leaves two. I considered tossing them rather than end up w a lone button but i guess what it Really means is i should incubate some More buttons. Also i decided im gonna bring the buttons in over the winter.

yes you should incubate more buttons! sorry the roo didn’t perform as he should! maybe just keep incubating the eggs from the 2?? my buttons seem to be very happy in the indoor cage so far but we are still planning custom cage as they are able to throw bedding etc out and make a mess!! my spot on the couch is right under the cage and someone even managed to poo on me yesterday!! (probably mickey or mallory) i started with the included paper bedding but most likely going to start using pellets for them and the brooders!

i’ve got about 2 weeks until the big batch is ready to release into the aviary....We are planning another butcher day around then to deal with the extra males! There’s been no evidence of fighting but all my girls are bald!! I have to make sure they can grow new feathers before it gets cold otherwise i will need to learn to knit little stocking caps for quail!!!:lau

Easy for you to say as im in charge of the caring for them :gig Really tho i cant have a loner my day job is too intense for extra needy things.

If i were you i might try taping newspaper along the sides of that temp button cage to keep as much dirty bedding and Poop :lau :sick inSide the cage :gig

Oh I can do the killing!
I think that's the part I'm going to have the hardest time with. It may be hard for me to get the skin off too. Once that's done and it looks like meat, I'll have an easier time with it, I think.

I remember the first time I prepared a turkey I had a hard time because it was so obviously a dead bird, but I got used to it. I guess that means I can get used to processing a quail too.
