➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

that unfortunately is still up to the city but we are still planning to fight on basis of size and that only the pheasants are considered gamebirds by the state....that puts us at 7 gamebirds (pheasant) and 2 rabbits if the 5 chukars and all coturnix quail don’t count. I recalculated today allowing 4square ft per quail (with 75 adults) and that leaves pheasant and chukar at 27.5 square feet per bird!! i personally think that is more than humane!!
You should tell them they better watch out or you will go Kathy Murphy on them and become a real hoarder will 300 birds inside your house.

I am picky.
I just couldn't start keeping track at the end of a year.
I had to wait until January.
we also had very few hatched at end of last year.....your first real hatch with good fertility were the new years babies!! my november hatch was only a dozen of which 7 survived.

I wonder if Mr. Muddy would like to sleep with quailies pooping on his head.
don’t get him started :lau i have to move this batch of babies out to shed tomorrow as he already told them i have 50 quail in my house!! he’s had me all upset with fear they are going to try to see inside and with all my time being devoted to getting outside ready, my house is an absolute wreck!! it’s driving me nuts!!

Screw downsizing!! LOL
Downsizing tastes good though...:D

Will there be an IOS version?
The development platform(Apache Cordova) I used for Android does support it. But it costs entirely too much to have an app in the Apple store. Currently HatchKeeper is just a hobby app I wrote for myself and a friend and I decided to share it in case someone else finds it useful. :caf

Don't worry the person coming is just a regular old person. They aren't going to care what the inside looks like. Don't worry about that.

I'm at a bit of a crossroads in my mini-farm.

We have the option to stay here forever, basically, or hightail it to somewhere with both better healthcare and the ability to have a real proper outdoor mini-farm, within the next few years.

I would really love to stay here. The nesting instinct is strong, it's my beautiful family home, my mom would have trouble continuing to afford it without us staying here, and there's so many things about living here that I love.

BUT, notwithstanding the healthcare issue:

I've realized ducks are kind of my minimum "made it!" farm animal, and they're just not going to be feasible. I keep trying to talk myself into making space for a pair of mini silver appleyards but the reality is they're too loud for this neighborhood, too messy to keep indoors, and too risky code-wise to keep outdoors. Maybe a pair of quiet bantam hens someday, but not ducks.

It's a bummer, man.
Where would you go?
