➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Pressure washed the grow out cage today and when I went to transfer the 6 weekers back into it they lost they’re little minds. One bonked the ceiling so hard it was bleeding quite a bit (for something so small). Of course it was one I was for sure planning to keep. :th
Oh no.

we butchered this afternoon.....took the 2 scalped and the blind albino plus some other hens and males. processed whole/skin-on and decided to do an apple cider brine for 24 hours for a dish this week.
as DH processed the hens, he said they had eggs that had not formed a shell.......still looking at feed vs adding calcium supplement (crushing the oyster shell to fine powder) have been turning on the lights for a few hours here and there and getting 1-3 eggs per day, but that’s way low for the number of birds i have.

What do you mean had eggs with no shell?
They are usually full of yolks...with no shells.

he said these looked like ready to be laid but no shell.....he’s used to seeing the progression of yolks during processing. Unfortunately I didn’t get to see it because i had to run to the grocery while he was processing.
