Those are gorgeous! I don't understand the coloring terms, but I do know gorgeous when I see it!
We are using the railings from his deck to build these cages, yesterday I actually started building a meat chicken tractor. My husband didn't understand what I was doing then he started to get it after a while.
Game bird feed.I have a few questions for everyone who raises quail...
What do I feed them?
What do you use for feeders and waterers?
How do you tell a male from a female?
Best male to female ratios?
Best way to butcher them? (Loopers or something else)
I know nothing about coloring so when I see all your pics I get so confused! I'll get it eventually... I hope
I'm all about reusing things instead of tossing more trash into landfills.Nice!!! Sounds like a great plan.
I don't understand the color terms yet myself. Those are gorgeous! I don't understand the coloring terms, but I do know gorgeous when I see it!

I need to find gamebird or turkey feed. TSC near me doesn't seem to have either.Game bird feed.
Turkey starter feed.
Regular chick waterers.
I make feeders...I'll get pictures in a second.
1 male to every 3 to 10 hens.... Depending on if you want fertile eggs or not.
I do not believe you can keep two males together in a cage smaller than 10 ft by 5 ft.
depending on what color quail you choose to raise some can be feather sex others you have to vent sex.
Cut their head off with a good pair of scissors.
I'll take note of this. I had a dog kennel, but I was thinking that they would get out. I'm trying to find wire fencing to use I want my cages to be able to go on the ground then we can lift them and put them on stands when it's winter.I do not like dog kennel cages anymore...for quail.
The door is just too big and they fly out just too easily.
I just had to chase one around the yard.
