āž” Quail Hatch Along🄚

Okay I know the sex link part like being able to tell gender from hatch is only for the first generation but would their offspring still be feather sexable at the appropriate age?? Are Egyptian and Pharaoh feather sexable colors?? Just don’t know if I should go with sex link where it’s only first generation or something where I’d be able to consistently tell the gender for multiple generations haha unless those are both also feather sexable colors?

I think if I got just feather sexable rather than sex link I would get the feather sexable assortment just cause I like variety haha

Although I also kinda like and want some of the rare colors so idk.

But this is all just hypothetical though. I might wait till spring to get quail. Not sure yet. Not sure I want to wait that long. :lau:oops:

But also not sure I want to deal with quail in the winter. Though we could always move them into the garage. Plenty of room.

:lau

I figured this would be a better place to ask.

But it’s okay, not actually going to haha

Although I could get dog crates very cheap at Ocean State that are quite large.... and we have tons of HC to wrap them.

Would probably take about two seconds...

But I don’t want to have to keep them in the garage all winter and I have a feeling it is going to be a very long, cold, and snowy winter.

So that’s holding me back.

Plus I think I’d rather start with free or cheaper quail for my first time :lau

Well, second if we count this chicken hatch. First quail hatch though.

Stop trying to kill me with your bright ideas.
I almost died just now.

In all seriousness though, for when I actually do it, is that really a bad idea?
quail can be hatched at same time as chickens, but you have to be ready for the hatch....ie space to brood separately if necessary, and permanent housing ready to go. i agree that first time hatch + winter is not a good time to try it......
