Fairly good. He's chased the hen off a few times to breed her but not excessively. How has his behavior been during incubation?

I have 7 hens, I get 6 or 7 eggs everyday. Mine are split up into breeding pairs or trios right now. I plan on adding in hens & maybe swapping out a male here or there now that I have more variety to choose from. I do use supplemental lighting, I turn the light on usually around 5am & turn it off at 8-9pm. I assume my 3 week olds have started crowing bc of the extra lighting. Tonight, I think I have 40+ eggs saved now,Possibly but I only have one male crowing right now so I need to figure out what other males I have I have two males that im for sure keeping to breed.
Some peeps do seperate them but I think it's only because the male becomes aggressive towards the chicks.Button quail people: I have a pair that are incubating eggs and they seem to be nearly ready to hatch. Should I move the male to a different cage?
Depends on the male. Some might attack the chicks. Some don't.Button quail people: I have a pair that are incubating eggs and they seem to be nearly ready to hatch. Should I move the male to a different cage?
That's cool Sara, I wish mine would do that!Depends on the male. Some might attack the chicks. Some don't.
My pair that set without my knowledge did fine and dad helped with the chicks.
Oh, oh, oh!!!
I saw a "new" BIRD-OF-FREAKING-PREY yesterday!!!
Never EVER had seen one of these birds here!
I think it was a white-tailed kite!
It flew in low & slow and slammed right into the welded wire fence of the goat yard.
Have any of y'all had any losses from this type of B.O.P?
Or do they mainly stick with rodents?
Love the look of those eggs. DANG IT stop showing stuff like this. Makes me want them more and moreI have 7 hens, I get 6 or 7 eggs everyday. Mine are split up into breeding pairs or trios right now. Do people process birds that drop dead? I don't with my chickens. What the heck!?!?
I just came out to take care of the little birds like always.
My breeders were crowing, breeding, leaping around like idiots etc....
I looked over and my Egyptian roo was laying on his back/side seizing or spasming/dying!
Do I process him now? Seems weird to do that with an unplanned event. Does this happen sometimes, drop dead for no apparent reason?
