I write on a calendar too, day eggs set, intended hatch date. I don't do staggered hatches so it's pretty easy to keep up with what's going on.

My records have devolved from detailed pages of notes to the number of eggs set, hatched, and quit scrawled on the wall. At the end of the year I derive the amount of clears from all the eggs not accounted for by hatched or quit.

Ugh, I'd forget to clean the wall after the season was over and really be mixed up with hatching.

People keep trying to get me to use digital calendars and I keep being a grump about it. I just don't feel like having to go over to the computer every time I want to see what's going on in the next week, you know? Plus, I trust Google with my information like I trust a hyena with a baby.

I draw a circle around everything from one year, date it, and then pick a new slice of unmutilated wall. If I ever have to sell this house, I'm going to have one heck of a repainting job on the walls!

Nope, not a rotary dial for the one on the wall but I do have one that is a rotary dial and one that can be switched from rotary output to pulse output. I can remember the days of party lines and the days of only needing to dial 5 numbers.

I am a dirty old man and make no pretenses about it.

guess i’ll reveal my age a bit here but I grew up with rotary on a party line with my grandparents who didn’t have indoor bathroom until I was around 8. there was no “city water” or “central air” or “cable tv” until i was an adult! if it didn’t rain enough, our water came on a truck!
