I just put mine into lockdown yesterday! Here's what I spent yesterday finishing up. A friend built the frame, I paid a neighbour to put the door on, and I did all of the hardware cloth.

Here's a funny story to go with the new pen. I was inside looking for hens (I have a buyer for six once I can identify them) and the bottom latch dropped down and locked me in. View attachment 2038592

Good thing it's intended to be moved so it isn't too heavy!

None. I lifted up just enough to put my hand underneath and push the latch back up.

The latch pulls on my coop broke because the cold made the wire so brittle—that plus the high winds last week meant that I got locked in! Thankfully, I was able to get creative and use a piece of wire to unlatch it before I froze to death in my jacket.

I have been known to lock myself in. One more reason for a generously sized pocket knife.

Alas, neither knives nor sticks work on my door latch; it's off to the side, so you need a stiff, curved thing.

we just built our new one today too.......pics in button hatch thread and budgie aviary thread. our funny story is that we were trying to make it basically same as koi pond pergola and something didn’t look quite right.....DH grabbed 2x8 instead of 2x6.....I was wondering why I was struggling so much to carry the lumber!!!

mine will still require a lot of work but figure I still have 6-8 weeks before buttons and other birds can move in.....tomorrow I’m cleaning yard, finishing the mulch in the garden, and considering trying to get back on staining/painting......I’ve got to find more projects that don’t require trips to store for supplies!!!
