Sounds like you have an extra roo. I did that too and thought the girls were being rough on him. Oops. Competition. No clue how I misidentified.I was all excited to have more hens than roos out of the birds I kept... but one of the ones with no orange on it whatsoever just crowed when I picked it up and now I’m second-guessing myself![]()
WOAH.So guys I didn’t manage to get a Mearns Quail pair at Germany unfortunately but I should be getting another pair of Snowflakes within the next month or so so I’m still happy!
My family member that went over to Germany didn't come back empty handed though:

The next pair of Snowflakes I’m getting will most likely be young and there’s a possibility they won’t lay this year but I can always be hopeful!
Yeah. I'm going to go take care of it now.So sorry.
Yeah. I'm going to go take care of it now.
Well, after moving 84 eggs to hatch this past Wednesday, not a single eggs hatched on Friday or Saturday. Saturday was expected hatch day but, I've usually got eggs that begin on Friday night. Woke up this morning (Sunday) to 2 birds hatching. Not quite out yet but, they were clearly going to make it. Now, before I left for work, there were 12 that were hatched, out and dry with fluffy feathers. Another 5 that were exiting the eggs and also clearly going to make it. I'm hoping that I get home from work at 7am to a hatcher full of birds to move to the brooder. I have an order of 50 birds that I need to fill.
