Kiki, what do you recommend for a calibratable thermometer and hygrometer? I set a culinary meat thermometer in boiling water (202° here), adjusting for my altitude.

I put it through the vent in my Incuvue and it read 102°. šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø The other thermometers were near 99.5 and I've had very good hatches in that incubator using a secondary thermometer (also by IW), so I just figured the meat thermometer wasn't accurate in the lower temperature ranges. None of the pricey thermometers I've bought agree (and none can be calibrated.) I try to meet somewhere in the middle and it's worked out for me, but if I knew where to look, I'd definitely invest in accuracy.

This is the thermometer that they use in the lab I used to work at. It can be calibrated.

Fortunately for me, the man that calibrated the lab's thermometers also calibrated mine for me. I used a rubber band to hold it to the temperature sensor for my incubator and suspended it in a pan of 100°F water to determine the offset needed for my temperature controller on my incubator. I was then able to input the proper offset for the controller.

It’s day 10 for me (if I count the day I set them as 0 because it was in the early afternoon, I’m kind of confused on when the cut off is for that as some say in the morning count as say one but evening start counting the next day). I added water and decided to candle my eggs, 3 at a time so I didn’t disturb the incubator or eggs too much. I could see an embryo and what I think was its heart beating!! It was so exciting, but the husband wasn’t around to take a video unfortunately. There were multiple I couldn’t see through the shell, but I was only using my phone light instead of my good light. Only 2 out of the 15 were totally clear from what I could tell. Probably 6 I couldn’t see through and the rest I had great development and veining. Super excited. Since they were shipped a few states I’m only hoping for enough for breeding stock to incubate more. But I would be ecstatic to get more.

I just went to get my fish tank to clean and get ready for my fakers.

Somebody threw it away because there was a crack in it.
