➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

They were in a quail egg box, wrapped in cotton wool inside the egg box, then that box was wrapped in thick newspaper and put inside another box. They were pretty well packed, just they were delayed by 1 day and the postman wasn’t happy about having to redeliver them and threw them on our doorstep and caved one side of the box in ☹️

I think if it says 'FRAGILE' on the box, they toss it around more than they would if there was nothing on the outside of the box.
I've had stories told to me by UPS personnel, that if the box says 'Live Hatching Eggs' on the outside, that some personnel will shake the box to see of they hear chirping!

I was nervous for a little bit this morning because the chick was bleeding again. It was trying to hatch, but just seemed like it wasn’t properly formed. Well, it just popped out, and seems formed. I won’t risk touching it for at least an hour.
Great. I normally wait 12 hours between brooder emptying. That usually spurs 3 more to hatch after I get the lid down. See you in 12 hours...

I want to say I can’t believe that but I really can...it’s like “Don’t push the big red button” 🙄

If it says fragile, they want to have a shake of it just for the sake of it. It’s annoying but I just hope the other 10 are ok!

Anyways, this is what I’ve set:

• x12 California Valley Quail eggs (Set on the 12th April)

• x12 Shop bought Coturnix Quail eggs (Set on the 17th April, added to the same incubator as the California Quail)

• x10 Snowflake Bobwhite eggs (Set on 17th April, separate incubator)

The quail eggs that I had got I think about five of them or cracked. Of course a person had fragile all over the box 🙄 They say you are better off not putting fragile on boxes for eggs and just wrapping them really good.
