➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Are Coturnix as spooky as buttons? Is @BantyChooks patented taming method necessary for them? 😂🤣
They still react to handling and pressure application (physical and non-physical) in much the same way, but they spook less and get quite accustomed to humans being nearby. My latest batch runs right up to my feet every morning and some members will even bite my hands.

Mine nuzzle my hand and scream when I take my hand out 😂 I think I'm destined to keep these 3. Let's just hope there's a male and 2 females or all females

I just stick my hand in there every couple hours and pet them. They seem to be calming down a lot more, but I am not going to pick any of them up. I'll just pet them inside the brooder.
Maybe that’s why mine are still a bit spooky. I don really handle or interact with them much at all. mostly just check food and water a few times a day. I’m gonna start handling them.
thanks :D, I got pansy fee, snowie, tibetian and one other
Sounds like a very nice mix!!!

I once had a batch of coturnix so tame that they would crawl all over my lap and sit there until they fell asleep.
They sound so amazing OMG :love

IME, game birds are not at all like chickens and will never fail to disappoint you if you start out thinking of them as such. Pay attention to their mannerisms, treat them accordingly, and they will reward you.
That makes sense!! I think it’s cool they still somewhat have the “wild” aspect and stuff.

Okay so this may be a dumb question. I put my button quail eggs in the incubator on April 14th. Im getting conflicting info on how long they take to hatch and when to start counting days lol. Stopped turning on what I thought was day 13. When should I see something if anything?
I set my batch of buttons on the 16th. Lockdown is the 30th, hatch day the 3rd. Yours aren't due to hatch until the 1st.

My turkey poults are really tame too. One just got out of the brooder and went into the woods (of course there's thorns everywhere) I had thorns go into my face and arm when I went to go get him 😂 He's back in the brooder though.
