➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

@muddy75 or anyone who can answer... these are the quail in question. I would like to know what they might be because they are the only ones that look like this. I’m selling 15 tomorrow and I want to separate my keepers. They are from the scarlet/range.

1) very interesting chick pattern but not as “vivid” scarlet so i can’t say for sure how it will look as adult but could end up scarlet panda or tux
2) definitely looks like it will be scarlet panda
3) scarlet tux most likely

it would be a tough choice and kinda depends on what traits you want in your breeders......personally I like the tux and panda colors, but the more you have, the more prevalent the white gene will be in the chicks you hatch. none of those are feather-sexable, (scarlet, or white) so you won’t know gender 100% until 5-6 weeks minimum......
if it were me, I would keep them all until maturity and take out most males.......but if you have the opportunity to sell them, then I would roll the dice on the ones with best personality and just hatch more!!

I’ll probably just keep these 3 and the all brownish ones in the mix. I was going to grow them out and see what sex they are.

I don’t like the all white one with the dot on its head from the last hatch. I don’t know why but white is my least favorite color on a bird. Think it’s because we have clay so they turn orange 😂

I've only candled about half of them, but those looked fine. I'm going to candle the rest tonight.

Why the tears? I'm thinking of keeping a breeding set of the pansies. I have two hens from my first batch in my mixed pen, so all I need are a roo and three more hens.

Several of the dark ones are big, but none are Goliath size. Goliath is still my favourite hen.

I just got my one year anniversary notice a couple days ago. On one hand, I can't believe it's already been a year, on the other, it's only been a year and I've hatched, sold, and eaten an awful lot of quail.
Happy tears.
😍🥰

i was going through these and attempting to answer as many as possible and just now realized that most are from 2019!! most likely already have the answer to gender questions by now:lau guess i should pay more attention going forward
I answered a few really old ones and people have already responded.
