(CRS syndrome) I picked it up maybe a week later and tatters were hanging from one ankle. Otherwise I'd never have known which one it was.
It would--but you have to remember to remove it. I like the scotch tape because it is weak. You are young, so you'll most likely not forget. Still, it's nice not to have a big struggle removing it. A bandaid cut in half longways also works--again, it can be tricky removing it.
The cup is the easiest and best method that Iāve done. Taping quail legs is a hard task. Leaving them in a cup for a few hours works just as good.
If you just have it next to you, it's probably getting cold. Remember that chicks need those 90 degree plus temperatures for the first couple of days.Thank you!! This is very helpful!!! Iāve had it in the cup I think about half an hour so far and he was trying really hard at first but now seems to be resting but I donāt have it in the brooder with them, just next to me. The brooder is a good idea!! Maybe it will be more motivated if it can see itās friends!! Iāll try that!!

I was worried about putting the legs too close together or whatever too which is another reason I decided to try the cup. That and itās fast and easy and like you said, they have to do the work themselves and strengthen them. Iām hoping this works. Itās a feisty little chick!!

This treatment works wonders on chicks with a sprain (or whatever it is called), but on chicks with something organically wrong (like being a CX) it doesn't work at all.

I donāt remove heat until theyāre a week or more old. Itās so hot out today. I went to check on my 4 week old quail and they all looked dead. They were just laying down though
I put it back in the brooder now but I donāt have a lamp. Just a heat plate. Maybe I should take it out of the cup and give it a break for a bit??? Think itās probably been an hour by now.
Put it in the brooder with the others but in the cup, itāll motivate it to work itās legs. Put shelf liner at the bottom of the cup not paper towel.
