The dark legs kill me.

There are a lot of tuxes in this batch. I have a LOT of chicks on the way. I... uh... won an auction for 120 mixed eggs, including the new white wing jumbos. I'm firing up the second incubator for the eggs due to arrive Friday.

The dark one is tibetan. Then there's the silver tux. The other one is going to some sort of red range tux.

Red range tux is the first one? It's really pretty. I love dilute colors. I have no idea correct terminology for quail colors, sorry if this sounds silly.

The first two pictures are the same bird, and yes, that's the red range one.

Don't worry about not knowing the terminology! I'm still learning too.

So today is day 13? Edit: Sorry, turns out I can't count. Today is day 18?

H o l y crow neither can I apparently! I let my hatching app do the math and it said Monday for pips but you’re right, it’s only been 18 full days now!

No...the cold storage wouldn't be an issue right now.

There are a few of us that left eggs in the fridge for days before taking them out to set and hatch just fine.


Have you candled any of the eggs tonight?
A tiny light, such as one that comes on a cell phone, is perfect for shining into the air cell to look for movement.

Thank you so much. I was worried to candle them a second time during lockdown but I figured what the heck because I thought I’d just messed it all up anyway, so I grabbed one to candle and lo there was a very large external pip! Then looking around I realized several of them had pips!

I got so excited that I bumped the table and the eggs all rolled around so that was awesome

Thanks to you all for holding my hand through this. I’m normally just a research and go type but for some reason hatching has done a number on my nerves

Woah, those eyes are stellar! Wonder if they will stay grey into adulthood
