I've always wanted to know why all of you experienced breeders buy eggs from hatcheries. (It's not an option in Hawaii, but I am curious what the benefits are vs. HG)
I don’t separate my colors and because mine are outside, they don’t lay year round. I hatch some homegrown eggs throughout the year, but I also order new eggs to achieve certain goals.....ie jumbos or sex-link specifically to raise as meat birds. new colors and bloodlines to add to my aviary etc.I've always wanted to know why all of you experienced breeders buy eggs from hatcheries. Less chance of introducing a disease into your flock. I don't buy from hatcheries but from an established 'known' breeder.I've always wanted to know why all of you experienced breeders buy eggs from hatcheries. (It's not an option in Hawaii, but I am curious what the benefits are vs. HG)

So??? How did it go?!?!
Cause I don't maintain a large enough gene pool to prevent bad things. I'll stick to the hobby side.
