Is there a factor that causes unasorbed yolks? Like temperature or humidity issues?

Not that I know of, but I haven't done much research on it.

If it seems to be doing okay in 24 hours, but still has curled toes, you might think about putting shoes on it to help them straighten out.

He seems to have absorbed some yolk, OR it dried. I put him in the brooder with the others already. He is walking and chirping still, but it has not been 24 hours yet. He is also quite small... What are quail shoes?

Those toes look bad. Pardon the bad picture, but this was a curly toed chick that I fixed. I used card stock and tape to make "shoes" to straighten them out.

Do you think I should put it on now? How long do you leave the shoes on? Thanks for your help! Not sure if it will make it though, but I want to try.

I use painters tape, I spread the toes and press them flat onto one piece, and put another piece over top, I press them together thoroughly, trim the edges a bit, and leave them on overnight.

Painters tape is like masking tape, it releases easily and is more firm than scotch tape.

Don't use scotch tape. Painter's tape is better. You don't want something too sticky because you don't want to break delicate little toes when you take it off.

Hmm...when I google painters tape this blue scotch tape is what comes up. Is painters tape white?
