We’re up to 17 chicks, with another 7 currently hatching!
My favorite so far is the Tibetan in the third pic-she reminds me of a little penguin

Just made T-shirts for the family, so I made myself one too.

Well, the last chick hatched last night, so after 6 days this hatch is finally done
Final numbers are as follows:
45 eggs set
7 non-fertile/early quitters
39 put in lockdown (somehow I missed one early quitter and put it in lockdown lol)
5 late quitters (2 died while hatching, the other 3 sometime before)
33 total hatched (4 of them were assisted hatches), but unfortunately I lost 2, one was an Italian I assisted that had curled toes, and the other was one of the scarlet fees. Everyone else seems to be happy and healthy
All in all it was a pretty good hatch, giving me a grand total of 31 chicks

I found this guy in the aviary and I had to name him Cyrano de Beakerac while he’s extremely small, he has made the next “help” list

Trim his beak and he will be able to eat better and gain weight quicker.

Wow, that was easy. I used a nail cutter like this one:

They're kind of old-school these days. Not so great for bunny nails, but easy for quail beaks.

I may trim and give him a pass but I have to decrease my numbers by at least another 20+ this weekend……they are blowing through 50# of feed per week

I would put him on the cull list but a beak trim may gain you a few more ounces of meat in a week or two.

We must be on the same schedule, although I only have 3 to cull. My cat is starting to lose patience with me.
