➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

I wish Bee but I had a heart attack. Had a stent put in. Never ever would I have thought this would happen, no history in the family, I'm not over weight, I'm not diabetic. And get plenty of exercise. And eat reasonably healthy food.

ETA- both shrink wrapped chicks are up and running around now....don't know why, I thought they were gonners for sure. I unwrapped them, put them in the hatcher, eventhough, they had been wrapped long enough to dry completely, I dabbed warm water on the membrane while removing them.
Oh my goodness Bond. Let us know if there is anything we could possibly do for you. I can order you a meal or two to have delivered.

Thanks Keeks, I appreciate the offer but I'm doing OK for the circumstances. Just really came as a shock to me...never thought it would happen to me! :th

I have a batch of eggs going into lockdown on Wednesday including 2 eggs from my own birds which look developed when candled. These are button quail and I'd love it if anyone can point me in the direction to read up on the colour genetics and mutations.

I have an egg from each pair developing.

One pair is a pure white (which I believe is recessive?) And a blue faced pied. Am I right in believing chicks will most likely take after the pied dad? He's a proper white winged pied with white bib.

My other pair I'm really curious to see what develops. A silver pearl (silver red breasted?) Female and a Darth (blue faced red breasted) male. Both from my understanding are recessive genes?

Anyone have a clue what I'll get there?

Really hoping peeps have some links to the genetics that I can boff up on xx

A good resource on Button quail, is 'A Closer Look at Button Quail' by Jodi McDonald. It's getting harder to find but I think Amazon still has a few and Cutlers may have a few copies.

Hmmm yeah I cant justify tht price tag 😂😂😂 Thankyou tho xx
Yeah, it is pricey now! When I got my copy I payed $12 + tax/shipping. :D
But if you can find one that isn't pricey....buy it, it is worth every penny!
Tons of information, more than you could learn on your own alone, and more than you would probably not want to know! ...and more than you can find on the internet. :lau

Time to do some aviary maintenance……I came outside to 2 quail outside the fence (I returned 1 but lost the other fumbling with the gate :th ) looks like I’m down to only 4 quail left 😭 and a couple holes in the wire 😫 I’m going to set the trap tonight to see if I can get the culprit!!!!!
