I would not want it any higher than 95°F at the bedding level. You don't want them hotter than they hatched at.I did end up moving the heat plate up a bit, as the thermometer was reading 110 underneath it. It’s about 104 under there at this height, which I think is better.
Okay, I’ll move it up a bit higher! Thank youI would not want it any higher than 95°F at the bedding level. You don't want them hotter than they hatched at.
Leave the little one alone. It will eventually fluff up as it preens the gunk from the egg off.The chick that hatched today isn’t drying out properly… I finally went ahead and moved her to the brooder a few hours ago, since she still looks wet but isn’t. She’s almost crispy? I wonder if it’s dried yolk… do you guys think I should give her a warm soak tomorrow? I’m worried that will freeze her. I could put her back in the incubator afterward, I suppose. I’m not convinced those remaining 3 eggs will hatch, there’s not even a pip in sight… I have been giving her tiny drops of NutriDrench. She’s not able to eat on her own. (I know this one might not make it).
