Hi all - thought I'd jump in since I'm going to start incubating my very first quail eggs on Monday. It's taken me a while to find some eggs from good Coturnix color variations. I already have 10 jumbo brown chicks from a local guy in the brooder, and I'm hoping to have a decent enough age difference between the two groups so maturation is staggered a bit.
That being said, although I've been reading and watching everything I can get my hands on, I'm absolutely up for advice!

First question: is there an easy work around since I only have a chicken egg turner for my incubator?

My first batch. I noticed quite a few of them sprawl like the one "tummy sleeper" in this pic!

Mine did that too as baby babies. Loved to scare my mom when she looked and saw all of them spread out like that.

On a somewhat related note, do quail like to be somewhat crowded? I've had so many aggression problems tongue point where I have almost 2 sq. Feet per bird in my cages and 4 in cat carriers. Someone suggested maybe there are too few birds in the cages.
