➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

Yes. He had a no crow collar that worked to town down the volume some but he was an all day crower. Esp when other neighbors got their silkie roos; they'd all have crow offs.
I guess you could test it, definitely get offspring from a known gentle quieter rooster.

I’m loving our New Hampshire roo for this same reason, I think we’re going to keep him. He’ll get Negan’s pullets from our hatched offspring and the other red birds from his order.

:idunno I'd be inclined to not risk it and just stick with hens, but I've never had to deal with regulations so I don't know what the atmosphere is as far as how strict they are and what consequences you'd face.

This is the attitude I've been trying to keep. I don't know about consequences. They'd probably just make me get rid of him and possibly fine me. But I also think what if more and more people start doing it and it becomes a problem causing the city to outlaw owing chickens altogether. It is just way tough when everyone else is doing it.

Wait. Does this mean you watch The Walking Dead or read the comics?

I've got a wwyd question for you folks... I seriously want a rooster but technically they're illegal within city limits. I actually did have one at one point but he was a young cockerel, 10 weeks or so old, and would harass the dogs. One day I forgot I left him out and came home to find him dead killed by them. They don't bother the girls but he would chase them and I guess he finally got on their last nerve, but I digress. That being said several of the backyard chicken keepers i know have them. My own next door neighbor had a RIR roo that they got rid of bc he was a jerk not bc of complaints. Anywho should I go with the flow and just get my roo or be a good girl and follow the rules?

I say that as long as the neighbors are okay with it and don't complain or even have their own roo then go for it. Lol or try a no crow collar but those can be cruel done wrong.
