➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

You may just go broke, but I get it. The thrill of the chase!

You have the heart of a scientist. :) I've really been enjoying this kooky thread!
I feel pretty confident in my bator operating skills now.
2 or 3 eggs a week for the next year won't hurt me one bit.
I could just spare one Starbucks a week, right?
No problemo.

I am determined to hatch balut eggs.

Hey @KikisGirls I just caught back up from Thursday.
I know that you said buying more eggs probably won't increase your chances but I have a slightly different idea of that.
I don't think that buying more eggs from the same tray will increase your chances. But what if you buy about, say, a dozen, from various trays and different levels of the stacks. That should give you a higher chance of getting at least a few to develop.
Moreover, if you take a wider array of eggs and they don't work then you could fairly justify that the shipment is bad.

And hopefully you'll get at least 3 to stick.

Very good...you are very good!

So there were 4 trays/levels.
Maybe I can pick a couple from each level today?
Hm...
Go for it! Maybe some are further along in development. Plus, you know from the first time that if they are viable, they can live for at least a day just sitting around the store.

We need our baluttie fix.:clap

I wonder if ones more centrally located would do better? Maybe kept warmer by being surrounded by the other eggs.
What bothered me when I picked up these 3 eggs was that they were cold to the touch.
The original eggs, that I bought on a Friday, were not cold when I bought them.
(I did put the original 2 in the refrigerator.)

I can't make my mind up. :barnie
I kinda want to go back now and pick up a few more eggs from the bottom of the stack but I keep thinking that this whole batch of eggs are probably not good and I should just wait until next week.

The truck they are transported in is probably a refrigerated truck. The ones you picked up the very first time had already been in the store for a day and warmed up to room temperature. There's a lot of variables here, I think, as to whether they are viable. I wouldn't put it down to an entire batch being bad.

If you can stand looking goofy, your best bet is to take your time in candling the eggs at the store and see if you can find ones with good veining and movement. In looking for movement, it may actually be better to wait until after they have been "off the truck" a few hours to even a day and warmed back up to room temperature.
