I also use the Lavendar scented Pinesol mixed 1cup to 1 gallon water to spray the surfaces outside my coops to keep flys away from the doors, windows, doors and steps.

I may try this. I got one of the products that was suggested, they just didn't have the other brand, and I swear I will go through that bottle in no time! It worked to kill but of course they always come back. The flies are horrendous!

I'm about a week behind on posts, but thought I'd pop in to say hi. So, hi

Screw piles are going in later today for the foundation. About bloody time. The house has been sitting in the field for over a month now.

Bingo went for his 12 week shots today. He's gained 5.4kg in the past 4 weeks. He's having dental surgery next week. One of his canines is growing in wrong and is puncturing his mouth. Hopefully his adult teeth will be fine.

@KikisGirls my words of wisdom for offing day....stay focused and breath, in their short time you gave them a much better life than the ones you buy at the market. Their lives are not in vain, they serve a purpose. On my very first butcher day my hasband reminded me that these guys lived like kings, we are doing this to not eat chicken that never walked in the sunny grass, never had a fake mom wipe pasty butt and never be truly appreciated as the gift they are. It is the circle of life and is scary but a beautiful thing that made me stronger. Good luck , you will be fine .

On clothing...I took clothes including suits and formal wear to a consignment shop...she said the ladies suits would not sell because dress codes for work have changed so much...so much more lax.

The Brahma chicks are here! The Brahma chicks are here!!! I ordered 3, then was worrying if they were all boys or all girls, so I asked if they had received any extras and there were 3 extra Brahmas sent! So I came home with 6 Brahmas and a White Rock, because they sounded cool. Now I'm just hoping they actually received Brahmas instead of Cochins, I haven't had either so not sure how to tell the difference as chicks.

The tall one in the middle is the White Rock. The others are supposed to be the blue partridge Brahmas, there are three that are gray and three that are multi colored, two of which have brown on their head. Did I get the right chicks?!

The blue ones may be Cochin.

It is a Casino on the AR/OK border ran by the Choktaw Nation Tribe.....that is the area we were at on our trip.

There is a town near Oklahoma City named Choctaw and there is a Choctaw county in Ok.

I have an order of 15 Columbian Wyandotte coming this week. I'm going to give the chicks to two of the broody hens. I have four sitting on eggs. And two books on the ground.
Butchering this week too....several drakes and some young cockerels.
Planted the some of the fall garden yesterday....beets, turnips, spinach and lettuce. Will plant more this week as I clean out some raised beds.

While I was stumbling around in the garden a few days ago, I stumbled across this. I set it on the sink so I would not have to try picking it up from the floor.

Is Big Moose a variety? And is Big Doris? Where did you get the seed? Would like to grow those!!!

I prefer bare feet too but when I leave the house a thick flip flop is good.

I used to wear those until I started having foot pain. They were pretty flimsy—I'd usually wear through a pair in a summer, and by 'wear through' I mean that literally.

I started wearing Crocs for the same reason. For $40 you can get a good looking sandal or a good slip on shoe that last several years of use. They make a diabetes sole that is really thick too. Crocs.com has a huge variety.
