➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

My day just hit disaster. Very, very quickly.

I just found the only two chickens I cared about dead and mauled, pulled through the wire of their coop.

I. Am. A. Mess. I cannot pull myself together, I can't stop crying and I'm losing my mind :hit

How is IV?
Doing much better! She perked up after the second baytril injection and has been improving since. Eating us out of house and home, actually. How many wormies can one lizard fit in her beanbag belly?
Thank ya Tess. :hugs

That’s a gorgeous cat. I wonder if it is lost or an actual stray.
We think it’s lost. We fed her up and posted it on Nextdoor, but she’s since disappeared again.

I don't know what to do now.
I have 4 banty babies left, 2 D'Uccles. The D'Uccles are a pair.
I don't know if this is a blessing or a curse. I didn't want two males, problem unfortunately solved. A needed a younger breeder but didn't want an older freeloader, again unfortunately solved.
I also couldn't mix the babies with the adults per disease risk.
But today I lost my beloved cockerel and my ambassador hen. :(

I'm sort of done, ready to give up and give in, stop trying to breed and stop showing. Just be done. I'm leaving for college in fall, anyway.

But I'm so torn. What to do with the babies?

Hopefully she went on home, maybe she was exploring the neighborhood. ;) Our cat is an indoor/outdoor though more indoor now that he’s 15.

Aww that really sucks! I'm sorry :(

I would say you could sell the pair but that's not really an option with the disease in the flock. Maybe you could try to get the disease under control and try again? I mean, it's still almost a year before you leave. I don't know if mareks goes away? Or you could just keep them all as pets and egg layers?

That’s an interesting article! It really is a shame they’ve been so ruined and taken advantage of :(

There are some breeding Australian Labradoodles and trying to get them recognized/being responsible and I’ve considered getting one of those or a Goldendoodle but I’d never get one of these stupid “designer dogs.” Except maybe a maltipoo
Those are designer dogs maltipoo and golden doodle.

I mean, the babies have never been in contact with my flock.
And I'm thinking I might have had Lymphoid Leukosis instead of Marek's.

Idk. I only wanted the D'Uccles to breed and show. It'd be pointless for me to keep at least the cockerel otherwise.
