➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

I ended up taking my dog to the vet yesterday. Hubby and son got concerned after they went to go try to sit by her and they called her over to them and she didn't want to move. Which is not like her because she is an attention whore. You look in her direction and she is like, "Oh you want me? Of course you do! Love me!" And she was showing signs of being a little tender around one of her shoulders. So for peace of mind, we took her in. The vet agreed with our assessment that she didn't have any broken bones and didn't feel like any fractures. She might give an occasional limp but for the most part she was walking ok. So she will probably be a little bruised over the next couple of days and gave us some anti-inflammatory meds for her. Also thinks she has some arthritis going on so gave us some recommendations for that going forward. So I feel better.

However.... today... :he:he:he

My little EE, Sunny, got out again. When I went out there to clean the coops, I found her stuck INSIDE and between 2 cinder blocks that we have in front of the big coop as steps. They aren't stacked. Just one in front of the other. I had to pull one of the blocks away from the other and dump her out, trying to be careful of her wing. Needless to say she was stressed and in shock and didn't fight me. I brought her in to assess her and get her some fluids, etc. The wing seems to be ok. She looks to be walking good. And I got her to drink and eat some food. She seems to have calmed down. I'm going to go put her back out with the littles. This week has been something else. I need a break! :barnie

Omg, you have a talented chicken. I'm glad she's ok and that your dog is ok. I hope everyone feels better soon and things calm down a little for a while.

I put the littles in with the bigs to stay yesterday. I watched a while periodically but left them alone to figure out bedtime so they wouldn't be pacing at the gate. I checked when everyone should be on the roosts and one little was perched outside on the pop door, three were inside but trying to land on the window sill. I put the four of them on the low (and unoccupied) roost bar and they stayed there.

It's going OK today. I gave everyone some range time and then absolutely loaded the run with food in various places. I'm trying to get the message through the Brahma's thick skull that eating time doesn't have to be a pecking order competition, there is no shortage. She sure acts like the fatty she is
