➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

I don't let the chickens in the garden...too zealous! But they do get the cooked elderberries when I make jelly. They scarf them down.
Grafting is so much fun! May have to try the cherry.

Was able to work in the garden some today before the rain. Hubby helped me set the timbers around the 16 X 20 bed. Then he brought up three more tractor scoops of good top soil for me. Because the ground is still too wet for the huge tractor, he dropped it over the garden fence.
I used the Kubota to move the dirt into the bed, made the pathways, smoothed the 4 beds and planted okra seed. Then it started to sprinkle. Gathered up my tools and ran to the house.
Lady, you put us all to shame with your daily labor. Here I thought I was a busy body.

Do try the cherry grafting! Do you have a tree to graft in mind? Here is the Italian prune grafted onto the ornamental plum. I love that the leaf color is different. It'll be even cooler when there are both pink and white blossoms.

It was a dry day here....has rained almost every day last month... Trying to catch up on the yard and garden

Oh wow that is a lot of rain!! Probably a good idea to try to catch up! Lol

We have all killed the thread at some point or another. It's like a weed, it always comes back. :celebrate Someone must have done something interesting today!

:lau that is true! Don’t think it’ll ever die lol but yeah, that’s probably also true but idk if I ever have before lol

And well I went to Boston and then we’re taking the train to Portland today lol

They're a nice looking little group. I like your inventive roost too.

Thank you!! I think they are too!! And thank you! I appreciate that.

X2 although I knew I was/am not a busy body :lau :hide

And wow that looks awesome!!

Just finally got to sit down and eat after a long and hot day of moving. It’s been a long day. Storms headed our way unfortunately.

Wow I bet it was a long day for sure!! Kind of forgot you were moving yesterday for a sec. :hide

That sucks about the storms!!

@CrazyCrttr75 yes ducks pull feathers...mostly down...to line their nests. The clockwise turning also includes turning the eggs. If you have marked the eggs in Annabelle's nest, Xena's eggs will be easier to spot. I use a Permanent marker and draw a line around the circumference of the egg so I can spot the difference quickly.

Awww. I try to stay busy all the time I can. When I'm sitting, I have a basket of mending and darning to do while watching tv. Also shelling peas this week is a good sit down task.
Yes, a friend has two nice sweet cherry trees and I have an ornamental plum too. I do get a few tart purple/red plums off it to add to tame plums for adding color in the jelly. There is a nice sprout/offshoot tree started I will move this fall. I can graft onto it. Had success several years ago grafting pecans.

Did you get everything moved? Hope the storms aren't bad. Now begins the days of unpacking. And you will be working on water fleas at the same time. It is amazing how we can accumulate a lot of stuff we wonder why we moved it.

Today, I'll have to sprinkle in the okra seed...the storms went south of us into Texas.
And I'm going to work on splitting the Iris clumps. Have not done that in several years so it really needs to be done. I have worked the driveway bed and the front entry bed to transplant some there. I have a couple of people who will share the many extras.
I have chickies due ro hatch on Monday.

I've been wanted to tell you my niece graduated last week. She's a real nurse now. She got a job in a ER in the medical center. :fl

He chose teal. Its wet here. It looks much brighter dry. I'll get a better shot today after I fix the few spots I missed.
