10 weeks/ sick lethargic

Just wanted to say that I am following your thread and praying for little Rudy. He is so cute I can tell he is a special guy. It’s easy to see why you love him so much! I will continue my prayers for him and hope he has a full and speedy recovery.
Aww thanks that’s so sweet and thanks so much! I can’t tell you how much time I’ve spend reading other peoples similar posts also hoping for good outcomes. It’s about 50/50 and there’s so many helpful people. It seems silly to me that there isn’t as many vets that take chickens! I feel like they are more prone to illness because they are outside. Phew anyways I hope we can have a happy end to this story. I do believe if I put in the time he will make it thanks for the prayers and encouragement

Eating and drinking pretty well. Some poops normal some watery. I moved his cage onto our covered porch to boost morale. Facing the coop during the day and back inside at night. He’s making more noises and protesting being bothered more. Decided to take him out of the cage and put him down on the porch to see what he would do he wouldn’t move and then pooped watery poop. He’s still just unsteady and wobbly but not puffed up anymore. Hopefully by the end of this week he’s better or he’s coming to the beach with us

I am still praying for him, for his recovery and for his comfort until he gets there. If you do end up taking him with you, you HAVE TO take a picture of him on the beach! I would love to see it!!! Maybe the warm salt air would do him good - you never know!

Haaha That’s so funny I should do that! Not sure I’ve seen a chicken on the beach We are renting a condo so pretty sure my family won’t be thrilled if Rudy comes along. I’m am definitely that crazy chicken momma now! Thanks for the prayers. I wish I didn’t feel rushed in this healing process but I’m prepared to take him haha

If you do take him with you, it will surely be a vacation your family will never forget! “Remember that time we went to the beach and took the rooster with us?” And he will have lots opportunities for some good one on one attention.
Sweet little Rudy! :love

Taking him might be way too much stress.
I would not.
I was thinking the same. I have a plastic water trough I used when they are little. And I’ve made a top to go over with chicken wire and we kept them on my covered porch. This might be my safest option. My only concern would be mice getting in and eating all the food so I could cover it with hardware cloth. Of course my worry would also be excessive poop and running out of food. Or I could keep it in our office and close the door so the cat couldn’t get to him but it’s dark and quiet and I wonder if it would be depressing. If that’s possible. I really don’t want to take him to the beach but I’d hate for him to come this far and not make it. Lol and I agree my family already calls me a crazy chicken lady! There will be 8 kids under 12 there so might be more stress than anything!

I would make sure you leave him enough food and water.
He should be fine where ever you decide to leave him as long as he doesn't get too hot or too cold.

Make SURE he can not accidentally spill the water though.

I have a nipple waterer too so I’d put both in there. Maybe some rest will do him good I have a large food thing too. I feel more settled with this decision. Just have to decide if inside or porch is better
