I started 20 eggs this afternoon. Slightly early for the Easter HAL but this hatch was really intended for our homeschool group. I'm hoping with a little Easter magic the kids will get to see some zipping and hatching during our Friday meeting. :fl

The sweet lady I bought these eggs from informed me as I was hopping in the car "My husband marked some of these because we wanted out hen to hatch some. I'm not sure how long they've been under her" :eek:Sure enough 1 has about 3 days growth. The other 5. Looks like I better be ready for some early hatchers.

Good luck! I’m glad she at least warned you.

Why wait?
Because I feel it’s less of a risk as pullets eggs tend to be too small,I have personally had issues with chicks dying that way so I just wait till they are more mature and it gives me more time to plan which roosters go with which hens! This year my pullets were not put in with my roosters as I didn’t previously have a plan to join the hatch a long!It was a spontaneous decision. My pens are separated with a wire wall if I put my boys together in opposite pens they would fight.I don’t have time till the hatch a long starts to acclimate the pullets to a new rooster.:)

"I have to wait until tomorrow. I have to wait until tomorrow. Tomorrow is not that far away. I know you probably won't make it that far, but you have to try." I say to myself as i set up my incubator.
I have been trying so hard not to hatch them now too. I have basically done everything but place them in the incubator. I have marked the eggs, started the incubator, collected the eggs, and added water into the incubator...now we just NEED tommorrow to finally come!!!! Easter chicks...we are ready for you!!!

Welcome!
