13 Week Old Chick With Impacted Crop.

This sucks! Last winter almost killed me, I was so worried about my girls, I put a heat lamp in the coop for the first time,( I used the Premier 1 heat lamp) I was afraid they were freezing. I built an insulated coop, but it was still soooo cold. I put a wireless thermometer/humidity gauge in their coop so I could monitor the conditions and temps in the coop.
I don't even wanna remember last year:he. Last year was a pain.
I don't use heat in my coops since it hasn't been necessary, because all my chickens are winter hardy. Got 10 eggs today, our record is 14.
The only thing I need to worry about is frost bitten combs, & wattles.

I live in a suburb of Milwaukee, I live on just shy of an acre but my community doesn't allow chickens.... I have 7 hens ;). My neighbors think it's great, they bring their friends over to visit the girls, I've had "underground chickens" for almost 3yrs now!!

I keep my chickens at my grandpa's place since he has 10, acres. He lives out in the country.
We live out of city limits, may have enough room for quail here at least. Going to get some Jumbo Brown Japanese Coturnix for meat, next Spring.

Good news. The coconut made the crop slippery enough that it emptied by itself overnight.
Going to measure the chick for crop bra size just in case she gets an impacted crop again.
