Yes I think three splashes, two dark blues and two blacks. The four look black in the picture but in person you can clearly tell that two are blues.I am happy and loving these chicks!

Day 17. I am doing the update for Jimmy as he is worn out from coop building today.

James A. I love those pics, the chicks look great. It makes me more excited for what is to come.

Candled ours at day 17, all look good, no changes. Getting ready to lock down on 9/20 and ready for hatching on 9/23. The puppy whelping, I mean brooder box is set up with hopes that all hatch well and we have tons of demented popcorn jumping around in it soon.

Now we just have to sit and wait

And just wanted to thank Cetawin for the chocolate idea. I not only have Ding Dongs for the hatch, I also got Suzy Q's, Cupcakes, and Ring Dings. 40 eggs is alot of anticipation and so I thought we would need alot of chocolate. I'll have to burn off the calories working on the new penthouse coop with Jimmy. Penthouse is what our chicks get when they are are from Suede and Isaac.

The hatchery chicks we have just get the shed that we converted

I make micro wave fudge when I wait for chicks. In less then 10 minutes I can have fudge at my finger tips. Don't mess with cake LOL.

Good luck with your hatch. My BLK orp hen is setting looks like I will get only the one but she/he/it is sure cute. She still has 3 eggs under her but I will be giving up after today, will wait till tomorrow but not much hope if the other 3 don't hatch today.

Currently in lockdown. I think my wife has lost her mind..

she has set up a cd player on top of the incubators to play classical music to the eggs until they hatch. Is this kindness or torture?

we will see. we read in a book that a hen will cluck and coo to her eggs when they are getting ready to hatch and that studies have shown that chicks raised with classical music will develop faster.

several of the eggs are rockin' and rollin' already so we expect to see the first pip maybe as early as tomorrow night

we will see if the music helps or not. I will update again when the pips begin
