I tried my hand at letting our hens hatch a few eggs on their own. Rooster is an Americana and hens were most likely black australops, or Rhode Island reds, or new Hampshire reds. The new Hampshire hen did the most of the incubating along with 2 black australops double teaming the nest box next to her. They ended up hatching 3 chicks. I think I ended up with two roos and 1 hen. Hoping the Americana gene for colored eggs carries over in the hen. ?? What do you guys think. 2 cockerels and 1 hen ??
