Hi

I'm just joining your thread. Carry on.

I had one more hatch but I helped it out. I got home today and it had pipped a hole about the size of a dime. One of the earlier hatching chicks was pecking at it and it was not fun to watch.( might be an O Shamo thing) I got the three out that had hatched and dried out and decided to lend a helping hand to the struggling chick. It is dried out now and standing up and looking good. Not much happening with the other 6 eggs.

I'm a messy painter, so my grass would be glowing. Yes, even with plastic or tarps, I'd mess up. Love this idea! I have another question about the apron. How many egg pockets should I put? I was thinking larger pockets than the usual egg aprons, but not as large as a "gathering" apron. So, 6 large pockets? 12? A different number? I'm currently only getting 3 eggs a day, but I want this apron to inspire people to participate in the games too. What say you?

You could make one deep pocket with the inside quilted. That way, it wouldn't matter if you only got a few eggs that day or if you collect a dozen. All would safely be stowed. And, as a bonus, you can wear it in the garden to pick veggies or fruit.

Love your Avatar, because I love me a nice looking Leghorn!

Thanks!

One of my favorite photos of one of my leghorn hens. I have some great photos of another leghorn
laying for the first time. Thought I would get the camera out, it was quite interesting to watch her,
poor thing, but sure shows why you need to give them head room in the nest box for laying!

Awww she's cute she looks like one of mine.
dont worry about us! Enjoy your time, be freeeeee!
