2017 Gosling Hatch a long!!

Pics
Hi, I'm new here as well and have a quick question. I have 2 Chinese geese, a gander and his girlfriend. She is now on her 36th egg and she hasn't begun to sit on them full time yet. I believe she's still laying.. But I've noticed the male will "yell" at her until she gets up. I love my geese but I'm sure you know how loud and annoying that can be at 6am. My question is, is this behaviour going to last the entire time she's broody or will he eventually leave her alone?

@Alicesandi she has 36 eggs in her nest? no wonder she isn''t sitting on them. You need to go in and take out the nasty and dirtiest ones get the nest down to a reasonable amount like 8-10 then maybe she'll go broody.

As for the gander yelling at her I haven't seen that behavior with my pair so can't comment. Although when she comes off the nest for a break they can sure scream and yell for a while.

Just 2 days ago she started putting her down in her nest

I've never had the yelling with mine either so I'm not sure what's going on with that. My gander does sit in the coop sometimes with my broody girl to keep her company and help her guard the nest, but that's it.

I had two new hatchers this weekend! And one more on the way that seems to have drawn down. Here are the two new babies:

What you saw was embryonic waste. They do produce waste while they are developing and after they hatch it's left in the egg.

What day of incubation is the slower one on? Do you know if it has internally pipped?

That smell seems to come from goose hatching, I know exactly the smell you mean. It's not a good smell, but it doesn't hurt anything.

I wouldn't clean the incubator. It's one thing to open it for a little bit to check eggs or pull a hatched bird out or do an assisted hatch but having it open long enough to clean it is not a good a idea during a hatch. If you want to do some quick spot cleaning that shouldn't hurt anything but a real clean should wait until after the hatch.

Thank you! I was really worried about the bacteria. The smell is nasty but I can't smell it with lid down. Haven't touched either egg and little pokey can breathe so as long as I can hear the little thing and do not see membrane shrinking I won't be touching. This is day 29 and I just checked eggs to be sure little pokey and membrane are okay, he is still loud but you can tell the little thing is tired. I'm not sure about internal pipping and can't hear anything over little pokey. I'm going to go find videos so I know what it looks like, I didn't find anything the other day I could understand/see and fell asleep. I can't even touch my babies! They hear my voice and boy do they get loud. Too cute! It sucks to be me right now. SNIFFLE Anyone up for a pity party.

I have same problem now. She used to jump up if the other 2 were mating but stopped that about 2 weeks ago. Everytime she sits for more than 2 hours he starts screaming that predator alert until she comes out. I'm getting ready to take him on a looonnnng walk, he doesn't fertilize half the eggs anyway and he keeps trying to attack me when I'm not looking.

How long has the little one been externally pipped? I'm a hands on hatcher so I'm always fiddling with my eggs, lol. Sometimes they do need help.

Adorable @Pyxis

Thanks!
