No Cricket, don’t peck Charlie’s foot.

100% a girl imo. The hackle feathers just look pointy due to that coloring, which is very similar to Kida's. At that age those hackle feathers would be getting longer and more pointy, and saddle feathers would be as well.

Here’s something fun...
I tossed a couple of pieces of ice from my drink to the chicks
:gig
They were picking them up and carrying them around chasing each other for a few minutes.
Cricket took a piece and ran off with it trying to break it up.
They also thought my cup was fascinating.

I posted another thread asking if people thought I should let her out of the crate.
She’s just so frustrated being in there and her wound has scabbed over.
The people that answered said to let her out right before bedtime as a trial to see how it goes.
So I let her out about 45 minutes ago.
At first she wouldn’t come out like she thought she couldn’t.
Emily was close by.
She walked out a ways on the deck.
She looked around and flapped her wings like saying “Ahhhh”!
They both stayed up there for a few minutes and after I rounded up the babies to go in the prefab I saw them eating grass happily together :love:hugs
She got up on the roost all by herself and seems quite happy.
I’m going to try to intercept her and get her off the roost each morning just to check her injury and spray it if needed.
I think her color will return with some exercise, foraging and being with her buddy.
Thank you, everyone, for your kind thoughts and prayers for her!! :bow
I’m so blessed to have a community of people who understands the love and concern someone can have for these beautiful creatures we call chickens.

I open my front door and the smell of skunk is super strong. I go in the back yard and smell nothing--I check everything out then go back to front door and the smell is gone. How is that even possible? Unless it was right by the door and I smelled the actual skunk? I've never had the smell just disappear. I haven't seen a skunk in a while, they used to play in my front yard. It seems that when the raccoons came, the skunks left. I wonder if the skunks are back and the raccoons left?

Sure it was a skunk and not something that may have smelled similar?!? :lau
