24 THINGS HEADED FOR EXTINCTION IN AMERICA

We have a local drive-in near us. I will miss going to the drive-ins...I remember when I was younger, we would grab a pillow or blanket, buy a lot of snacks such as Twizzlers, chips, crackers, etc. And we would go to the drive-in and watch a movie together.

It was a lot of fun to watch from the car or from outside.

I didn't know that milkmen still existed either!(except for maybe in really small towns)

Well what are you gonna do?
did you know that you can have just one hive in your yard?
did you know that there are hives in the city?
did you know that they are not that expensive to buy and maintain?
did you know that I hope to put one in my yard?
did you know that they have a nice garden design in hives?
did you know that I was just part of a "webinar" from bushybee company and it was neat?
If you have a large area you could grow things that honey bees like.
did you know that a letter to your congressman/senator can be one sentence long.
did you know you can find their address on the internet?
did you know you can write to every senator in the country?
did you know you can send them letters saying the same thing?
did you know that your wasting your time if you e-mail them?
did you know that snail mail is not real? Most of the time it gets there in one day, depending on where its going and how legible your writing is.
did you know that your addresses are read by machine?
perhaps we should all agree to write to our senator/congressman and mail our letters on the same day?
Save the family farm.

I have 2 hives. Love the bees!

As far as the family farm - we may not see what was traditionally the 'family farm' of our youth and even back before the 40's but there are things to consider about farms. If you don't file a schedule F on your tax return for at least 5 years you are not classified as a farm and are not counted in the gov't statistics. Many people are practising sustainable living but can't or don't file schedule F and many others don't qualify but I think there is a new 'family farm' in making. Backyard chickens, gardens, honeybees, dairy goats and wool sheep are making the new face of family farming. Yayyy for us!

Thank god I live in Oregon! We still have farms, swimming holes, and ppl using Ham/CB radios! The other stuff can't be stopped its just progression I guess?!

I hear ya Miss Prissy - our new barn is going up this summer a I CAN'T WAIT!!! If someone asked me 20 years ago if I'd be building our little family farm, I would have laughed in their face. I was living and working in Manhattan and never would have saw myself living any other way.

Time changes so much. Some things should go by the wayside as part of the natural progression of things, like the milkman, but some things I cherish shouldn't.

I think there's nothing better than getting a handwritten letter from a friend. An e-mail just isn't the same.

Randomly Euthanizing Wild Horses?

Someone has to do something about this. IT's very sad. What have we done?

uh huh exactly.

Those are truly disheartening sad items to lose on that list. Makes me sick and very disgusted with big cities and big business.

they are already doing it. They put down 7,000 last year. The root of that problem is that the BLM is too lazy to do their job of managing the land and the government can make more money by leasing the land to ranchers than protecting the mustangs/wild horses. no different than their slaughter of one of the last remaining free roaming buffalo herds. they said they were infected with a bovine disease (which they could be innoculated for)...so they slaughtered the entire herd...mothers, calves, bulls, took blood samples and burned the carcasses rather than give them to the Lakotah, dakotah, brule' etc etc, who would have harvested the animals and the parts. Labs came back and not a single buffalo had any disease much less the one they were killed for.

Makes me sick! The waste and senselessness of it all.
