3 day old duckling with yuck eye straight out of shipment...

I don't think I'd use both right now might upset their tummies just do the Nutri Drench for now and you can put it into their drinking water too. Can the littles dunk their heads? that is very important. Sounds encouraging.!!

Nutri Drench has some niacin in it doesn't say how much I don't think that was the reasoning behind the B complex once your lil ones get up and going from their travels.

Great to hear Goop is doing better and Grumpy is also pitching in to help brood them lol

Obviously I’ll still touch base with Metzer but I had an idea I wanted to swing by you guys.

So I got that awesome recipe for mild saline solution but, admittedly, I was spooked at using it just in case I got it wrong and it hurt the poor baby’s eyes.

But! And thankfully, the eyes seem to be doing well after goop removal but if I wanted to ‘work’ on that eye some more, do you think these allergy eye drops I have would be okay to use? I have them because my vet recommended them for my Rottweiler who has allergies (shows up in his eyes with his own, what we call, eye boogers). It’s CVS brand eye allergy relief and contains pheniramine maleate .13%, naphazoline hydrochloride .02675%

Also, searching BYC boards last night, I’d seen where there were recommendations for using the Vetericyn spray on the eyes. I know the bottle says I can but it smells so chemically that I worry it’d burn when I applied it?

Whatcha think?

@Miss Lydia

I will take the electrolyte water out and put in some NutriDrench water and keep their food with it in it.

THANK you for clearing that one up. If one of them regurgitated because of tummy ache, I’d have been back on here with my “the end is nigh” rhetoric.

I am not sure on the allergy drops. But I have gotten dust in my eyes when cleaning my coop and sprayed Vetericyn into them to wash it out it does not sting or burn at all.

Deities love you for personal test. I had, legitimately, considered trying it on myself but I worried that if I did, and something went wrong, I’d have one heckuva time trying to explain to a doctor why I was spraying animal first aid into my eyes LOL

LOL never thought of that.

I have even tasted the ACV that I mix into a gal of water for their tonic or if they need to clean a scrap or wound on their lil faces. [It's another good one for cleaning eyes.]But lets wait on the ACV in their water they need the Nutri Drench for now. But if I am going to rec something I want to know I am giving good advise if I can. ACV mixed in that amt will not sting or burn.

ABSOLUTELY agree about the point of recommending something blindly vs. personal first hand experience. I guess maybe I’m just a chicken turd HAHA.

I couldn’t figure out the measurement of how much Nutri to add to their waterers so they just have regular ol’ no frills water. There’s 3 containers that are 2.5-3” squared. I did (now this is where I admit to being lame LOL) measure the length of their little heads, beak to back of head, to make sure I had the right sizes without going too big and letting them wallow in it. I was a pro at measuring such an odd thing because I keep close tabs on the Swedish Quartet’s heads LOL

But yes, everyone has deep enough water to dunk their heads in (including eyes). The Swedish ones are dipping and splashing in theirs (it’s a standard poultry waterer but to them it makes no difference, they still make a mess LOL) but I can’t say I’ve seen the infants washing their heads yet. I’ll give them a few days to recover before I whip out a water pray bottle (oh gootlort).

Getting ready to post a short 2 minute video (I recorded 5 minutes ago) to show current infant status.

Here’s the Cayuga babies. I’ll also post, here in a bit, a video on the Swedish sisters just because it’s a fun little swim video.
