$35 for Sexlink? BROWN Rhode Island Red? And more.

I went to the chicken barn at a local fair, and saw a LOT of weird things.

1. $35 freaking dollars for a Red Sexlink hen. And $60 for a pair. WTH?
2.One of the tags for a Rhode Island Red said BROWN Rhode Island Red. It was the only one like that. Again, WTH?
3.Someone had a 'Rhode Island White' for sale. First, it Wasnt even a RIW, it was a Austra White. Second, they claimed it was a very RARE heritage breed. AGAIN, WTH?!
4. RIR's for $35 yet...Silver Lakenvelders for $10. What?

Remember that all those vender's paid a certain amount of $$$ to be able to sell there. Prices reflect what the venders needed to break even plus take some ka$h home.
Whatever an item is, its value is determined by what someone else is willing to pay for it.

I've seen a few doozies posted on Craigslist asking outrageous prices for a beat up cockerel, a pullet with crooked toes, and a very aggressive but lovely rooster.
What amazes me is that sometimes they get their asking price.
