Sure wish I could find some Silver Laced Wyandottes for this hatch. Not having much luck on my first hatch so I need some good hatching vibes for the Hatch-A-Long!

There are SLW hatching eggs for sale all over. Did you have particular preferences on price, location, show quality versus breeder quality versus pet quality etc?
I've never used lights on my hens but I have read that you should only turn them on in the early morning hours, early enough that you have 14 hour days total. If you turn them on at night and the hens are off the roosts when the lights go out then they freak out and can't find their roosts. This sounds very fun, I'm ordering some eggs from ebay but they will probably arrive too quickly. I will be in if my hens start laying again, I haven't had an egg in 2 weeks! and there are 12 of them! So if I wanted to have them lay a few eggs for this hatchalong, how soon should I turn on the lights. Is it an automatic insntict or will it take a week of lights before the eggs start coming. I will be turning them off once I have collected my eggs. Also, what times do you reccommend turning them on in the mornings and at night?
Quote:thank you!! im going to reset the light hours in the coop from night to morning. it all makes sense![]()
