I have worn my seatbelt everyday since I was 7 (26 years ago)when my dad was killed from being ejected in a car wreck. I actually feel half naked without it.

ETA: I'm glad your friend is well enough to talk with you.

I don't know why they decided to cram 9 people in that car. Save gas I guess. I especially don't understand having little ones without proper seating. I doubt car seats were being used at all.

BYW: He did sound awful when I talked to him. But I am thankful I got to hear his voice. I finally got to cry.

Thank you for offering help. I have never been to Flordia and I don't know anyone there. One of the minors was the driver's (his MIL). I have been tempted to go down there but there's nothing I can do.

I'm certain you will be in a position to do a lot more for your friends in the days, weeks, months, even years to come. Grief is a long journey and often is a lonely one when others not as closely associated to the situation naturally tend to forget.
