The egg looks fine!so I went out to the coop hoping to find an extra dark olive egg and a first laid WCBP/brahma egg. on the trail to the coop, I see blood on the snow. I checked everyone's feet. nobody has a foot problem. so I go to the coop to get the eggs I expected. one hen who lays dark olive was hopping off nest, Oh goody she laid her egg, but she didn't I looked where I saw the WCBP setting she was not in nest, no egg. so I was going to leave the chicken pen, but I wanted to cover the blood, so hens would not peck at it, and as I was putting snow on top I found this egg:
It was not cold but was laying in the snow, dirty and bloody. I took it in and paper toweled dry, then a little damp on some spots. took the pic, and in the incubator.
Welcome!I'm in! Though I may be a contender in the worst hatch rate contest. This will be a fertility check. Everyone was separated into their breeding pens a couple of months ago, then they started molting. I've been getting 2 eggs a day for a couple of weeks now![]()
I'll be hatching Silkies and Sizzles (hopefully)![]()
