Here’s a whole body pic…those wattles are definitely there. Hmmm…*Orpington![]()
Are you sure it's only 8 weeks? @Overo Mare you enjoy crushing people's dreams, one cockerel at a time. @Rhodebar Lover you are also usually pretty spot on at sexing. Judging by the first picture there was no doubt in my mind that the bird was a cockerel. I'm less sure now, looking at the bird's whole body, but for 8 weeks, in a LF Orpington I just think that's too much comb and wattle and too much red this early. Here’s a whole body pic…those wattles are definitely there. Thanks for the feedback. You're in the mindset I live in with BC's. Our home grown, breeder birds mature much slower. You have to remember that this isn't one of yours. It's most likely from hatchery stock. Those hatchery birds mature at crazy rates. Are you sure it's only 8 weeks? @Overo Mare you enjoy crushing people's dreams, one cockerel at a time. @Rhodebar Lover you are also usually pretty spot on at sexing. My Lavenders were only one step up from hatchery stock. lol And the pullets took forever to develop. The cockerels were super easy to spot. I don't know, I'll be interested to see how this bird continues to develop. It's most likely from hatchery stock. Those hatchery birds mature at crazy rates.
Honestly no idea. I got rid of all of them because they were garbage. I kept a couple of hens but people want them so bad I always end up selling them. What are the lavender Orphington’s like as roosters? Do they tend to be really prolific crowers?
