Sweet!

This little one is about the same coloring as one that I had hatch last month. Getting big. It has more black on the cap. Next time I go out. I will try and get a photo of...what I think is a boy now. I was so hoping for a girl. At an akward looking stage. But is so sweet!

Yeah, I have no idea who the mom was on this one so it'll be a real surprise!

so sadly we learned today that despite a completely enclosed run area. That a hawk can still get and kill our silkies.

Sadly this is the 2nd one we've lost to a hawk. 1st one disappeared, this one in guessing got too close to the fence and grabbed.

So sad. However still excited about our hatch day coming up. So there's that. And about 3 more hours of new smaller holed chicken wire going inside the frame of the run.

Not sure what happened but it looks deformed. I've opened many eggs and never seen the organs look like that. The beak and head are very strange. I had one that did not hatch once . It was alive at lockdown but small. When I opened it up after it died it had no head.
had a quail with 2 faces on one head. Of course it didn't hatch. Still have pics somewhere.

The hatched chicks were being too rambunctious and eating bits of shell so I pulled them after my shower. Now they are peeking out from under the ecoglow. Waiting on the others
