I don't have all the answers you ask for but wanted to say mine are great foragers. They run no leg problems. They are very sweet. I accquired some younger birds. The more domanate hen will peck them and let them know she has higher rank but she isn't vicious like other birds. They are one of my favorites.Pam

Thank you for the input. I always wonder about health issues with over-sized breeds of any animal. This is one breed where the hens are just about as pretty as the cocks. I guess that's true of the auto-sexing breeds.

Thats the only draw back mine took 7 1/2 months waiting was driving me nuts. Pam

Ok so 2 days in the week I have gotten 2 eggs..... One pullet is obvious she is laying with a nice red comb..... Is it possible the other is laying without the red red comb? Her comb is still small and not really red like a layers comb.

Quote: I don't think mine are very old..... My youngest might be 6 months and the other 7 but it is winter so maybe if they come into lay in the spring or summer they will be quicker layers. I think 6-8 months is about par for the course with most chickens.

Have you checked the vent of the pullet in question? The condition of the vent can perhaps give you a clue if it's moist and stretched rather than dry and tight. (In any other context that statement would sound horribly lascivious.

If they've just started laying it is possible that one pullet lay 2 eggs in one day. When they're this young their little bodies are still adjusting to the new activity, so more than one egg per day, eggs with soft shells or no shells, eggs within eggs, multi-yolk eggs, etc are all possible.

So is it supposed to be TWO eggs in TWO days or two eggs twice.
